LATEST NEWS
March 2009

For the first time in the society's history the 2009 Open Show will be held outside of Ollerton.   The new venue will be Thorseby Miners Welfare at Edwinstowe, about 4 miles from the usual venue.   We had to find a larger show hall due to the fact the club will be holding a Budgerigar Society silver championship show, and with entries expected to be higher than the 702 that were benched last year, a larger venue was required.

Our President John Jarvis has decided to sell his birds due to health problems.   He has donated the proceeds of his breeding cages and show cages to the society.   Our thanks go to John who has been in the fancy for over 60 years.   We are pleased to report that John will continue to be President of the club.

Young Stock Show 2008

The show was held in conjunction with our friends from Notts & Derby Budgerigar Society and South Notts C.B.S.   A good entry of 105 birds were staged.

The society has recently replaced the storage shed at the Jubilee Hall with the help of a grant from County Councellor Stella Smedley.   After we had 180 pieces of staging stolen we have been given enough staging from a local Nottingham society who have disbanded to be able to hold our Open Show.

The society has been granted Bronze Championship patronage by the Budgerigar Society for our Open Show.   This in itself is something not many Cage Bird Societys manage to attain.

It means once again Budgerigar fanciers will be able to compete for Challenge Certificates at a show in North Notts, since Sherwood Forest B.S was wound up and with Notts & Derby operating mainly in the South of the county it gives our society the chance to fill the void.

The show is no longer going ahead and therefore is cancelled.

Annual Members Show 25th November 2007

It now seems very unlikely the show will go ahead due to the government ban on bird shows because of the bird flu outbreak.   A final decision will be made on Thursday 22nd November.   Where possible members will be notified.
